Is Blogging a Dying Trend?

It doesn’t matter what facts are out there, no matter what the marketing trend, sooner or later some naysayer shouts that the trend is dying out.

They have been telling us for years that email is dying and that it is not a good marketing tool.  Yet anyone actually making money online will tell you that not only is email not dead –  email is crucial to business online!

And blogging … we’ve been hearing how blogging is a dying trend. Yet, nothing could be further from the truth!  Blogging has changed emphasis for many people and it has become the darling of the business world.   Let’s look at the undeath of blogging!

Freedom of Expression

In the early days of blogging, it was a chance for anyone to have their say online.  They didn’t have to worry about all the tricky aspects of setting up a webpage.  There are still some writers and those with strong opinions who use blogs to exercise their freedom of expression and see their blog as simply a creative outlet.

But many more have realized the huge potential of blogs as a chance to earn money online –  that the blog itself can be a way to make money.  And others see the potential of blogs as a marketing tool for their businesses.

A Genuinely Profitable Business

Blogging can be a fun hobby but it takes time and effort. If you are going to commit yourself to so much hard work, why not get paid for it? How can you transform a blog into a money-making machine?

One idea is: the free content you post can lead to paid content you will sell. Information marketing is booming, as is online education. You could also turn your content into a membership blog, or a structured eCourse.

The other idea is: the free content you post can lead to sales of physical products.  People go online to search for information about a topic and they find your free information.  If you are informative and give good useful information,  people will be drawn to look at what products you sell.  If you have helped them, they will trust that you wouldn’t steer them wrong when you recommend a product.

Themes, Widgets and Plugins

Gone are the days when you have to be an expert coder or website developer to create a professional-looking site and add great features to your site that your audience will love.   Subsequently blogs have changed into quite powerful websites and rather just a page on a site.

Plugins are the most powerful of all  small programs that can add functionality to your site.  They can turn it into an eCommerce superstore and allowing you to get paid for your work.

Marketing Tools

The best plugins  allow you to market your business with just a few clicks. Others allow you to optimize your content for search engines, and even communicate with them directly and automatically through creating a site map of all your great content. More marketing means more traffic, and more traffic can mean more sales if you are offering the right items to your target audience.

Being Mobile Friendly

One of the best things about a blog is that the modern themes are all mobile-friendly. That mobile trend is here to stay.  Smart business owners know they must cater to it,  that their website will look good on any size of screen AND that they can make changes without having to call on coders and IT specialists!

Offering Multimedia

Blogging is no longer just words on the page. Blogging uses images, video and audio.  The most successful use all types of media! The written content can be articles, lists, Top 5’s and more. The important thing is to offer variety so your readers will keep coming back for more.

Evolution

Bogging  is not dead or dying!  It is alive and well and has morphed into a super-version of its old self! Blogging is evolving as new users, devices and trends come and go.

If you keep an eye on those trends and change with them,  your blog will remain healthy and profitable.

Patt
